Hi Linus and team. Great video. However, be careful about showing Amazon pages (especially reviews) on-screen. I was almost banned by the Amazon affiliate program for using exactly those things in videos on my channel. It apparently breaches their terms of service. Wouldn’t want you guys to get chucked out. Cheers for the content, Ben.
Ya
Did they also forget about fair use?
@Santos Smith ??
@mushufasa It isn’t but even if it was, doesn’t make it right.
@TheAngryDanishViking what lmao? Fair use has nothing to do with their affiliate program
I was a die-hard G502 user since 2014 for a LONG time. We own like 4. I’ve personally switched to the Glorious Model O/Wireless. The G502 is great, but I’ve found while I preferred heavy weight before, lightweight is nicer for me. While it seems like “higher quality” materials up front, the plastic shines like crazy over time and the rubber on the thumb side just outright… melts under daily use. I run into similar issues with the MX Master line, but on a far lower level. G502 is a great mouse, but I don’t really recommend it anymore.
@Meme Logs His Gaming yeah, you gotta clean it regularly, especially the rubber area
I also maintain its shape by routinely wiping it with a microfibre cloth and water. Never use solvents like alcohol. If it’s gonna melt, then it better melt from average use.
@ytdlder Thing’s immortal. I’ve had the G402 since 2015 or 2016 and it’s still here today. Getting mouse grips helps a lot in maintaining the rubber grips of the original mouse. I don’t have one, though. Just used another buddy’s mouse with those on it.
Did you see the Model I that just got released?
@SolLeks Dang. I’ve had the G502 for almost 3 years and haven’t yet developed that issue, fortunately
Had my G502 since 2015, has survived over 1000 hours of overwatch, over 700 of CS GO and hundreds in other games. I love the shape, love the feel and it still works just as well as it did when I bought it 7 years ago. I have owned 3 razer mice since in an attempt to upgrade from the G502 and all failed within 6 months. I always go back to the old G502.
Haha I have mine since 2015 too, and playing a looot of ow and some mmo. Still works like a charm! When it dies I will buy another g502. Easy as that. Probably the k/da version
Love the fact that the mouse is heavy, most other mice feel too light and “cheap” in my hands
I’ve been using this mouse for… I don’t even know how many years now. Still love the thing but haven’t thought about why in a long time until seeing this video. It just fits so comfortably in my hand and, in my opinion, has the perfect amount of extra buttons. It’s even taken a little abuse over the years. Good polling rate. And that price point? Come on man, it’s just simply awesome.
I had bought 3 of these over about 5-6 years. I feel like my first one lasted forever. Like 4 years. And then my second one started having scroller issues and lost the click response after a year and then my third the same thing after a year. So I stopped buying them. Just got an EVGA x17. So far it seems way higher quality and the weights are a lot better quality. Time will tell though.
I’ve tried other mice as well, and I keep coming back to the G502. When my first G502 got crushed in my laptop back pack and started having switch issues, I tried the Razor Epic (which I still use for Diablo and RTS games) but ended up buying another G502 for FPS games. The placement and design of the thumb and index auxiliary buttons is just so well designed I couldn’t live without them. Every FPS I play has melee and grenade mapped to the auxiliary right click buttons (if you’re using melee or grenade, you’re not shooting) and has reload and equipment on the thumb buttons. Its just so damn well designed and I’m so used to the layout, anything else feels weird at this point.
Got one of these bundled with my current pc about 2 years ago, absolutely loved it. about 4 months ago the right click started failing on me when holding down, so basically the same issue as you described in this video. Honestly, it had a pretty good run of a year and a half of very heavy daily use and i love everything else about this mouse so I think it was worth it still, if they could fix the switch issue with something better it would be a perfect product.
When i first got my 502, it felt way too light, and too small for my hand. But as i grew accustomed to it and adapted to its shape and weight, i find it to be fantastic to use. The weight is just enough for me to feel that i have a mouse and the size is perfect for me to palm my mouse.
I don’t know why, but I love this mouse. The first one I had got the double click issue, I got a second one recently.
@douglasg14b so why do you continue to buy the same mouse
Try Razer Basilisk v3. Just got one after being a G502 diehard for like a decade. Same shape, thumbrest, overall design. More RGB, more features, higher quality sensor, optical switches that won’t double click, lighter weight. Downside is its $20 more on Amazon rn, but this thing is feeling way better for me and more responsive in FPS to boot!
same problem, had to send it back 3 times because of double click issue in less than a year, and even the third one i got had this issue so i completely had to abandon it and switched to a razor, i was told i can fix it myself but honestly i really dont feel like taking apart a new product i paid for
I have my G502 Proteus Core for years. Still running awesome.
The sensor is great, it has the buttons I need, as a size that fits well with my big hands, and with a little modding the thing can go way down in weight. Rarely use it beyond ~2400 dpi depending on the games.
My only complaint is that they try so hard to be all edgy G4M3R with the design. A bit simpler design would be nice.
I’ve had this mouse for almost 3 years now, and one day, when it finally gave way I’ll probably just gonna get another G502. It’s just that good. I’ve been using Logitech mice since the very first day I was able to operate a computer and they _never_ disappoint
I own a G502, and I like how easy it is to scroll on “free scroll” mode. The only problem I have with it is lately it tends to “double-scroll” until I cycle the DPI back to what I have it on somewhat often, and there’s no driver updates, so it’s not that.
same
I’ve had 2 and my son has 1, all three the scroll wheel goes out quick and the button when pushing the scroll wheel gets to be non existent.
Lie your not own Logitech G502
I love my g502
I’ve been watching Linus for 4 years already and when he mentioned the G502 in one of his videos I’ve always wanted one for myself. Even though the Logitech G502 didn’t had that much hype like it used to, I still got the mouse cuz of childhood and I don’t regret it a bit.
I Bought a G502 in 2014 and used it till 2021 when i upgraded to a superlight. The thing is Even then when i upgraded, that same G502 was completely functional, outside of the worn rubber on the sides it had no breaks, no malfunctions, no faulty scrollwheel or sensor issues. I still have it and it still works.
And is it an improvement?
Same. Except my superlight started having sensor issues 11 months in…
I’ve got a Steel Series Rival. Bought it 3-4 years ago, my first proper mouse. £44 felt like a lot for a mouse. Absolutely love it, the shape is great, my only issue is the glue holding the side grip slowly leaks out the bottom making it pick up dust like anything (and feels greasy at times that you can’t clean). Do like the sound of even more buttons though…
It’s ridiculous that the switches consistently fail on these logitech mice. I wounder if they use the same switches on the MX master because I have a 502 and and MX2 and they are both failing.
Look up Steelseries’ magnetic-optical switch, which they use in their “Prime” series of mice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5fphzBWJXo
Those switches were also used in the first version of the G Pro Wireless. A friend of mine experienced double clicking within a few months on his GPW. My G502 from 2018 still has no problems. The newer wireless G502 has softer switches. I assume they intended to resolve the double clicking issue with the new switches, but they feel substantially worse than the old ones.
@GurtTarctor I would 100% go back to the wireless 502 (what was it, 902?) if they get better switches. Went to a razer viper ulitmate and while I like the mouse, I do like the feel of the 502 style better to be honest.
@Ajinkya Thorat and yet they just work better. beyond the paper specs, a mouse must perform well in real life too. there’s a good reason why they have the best selling ones. FYI the viper mini is usually 10$ more expensive.
@Marius Puiu
You’re comment doesn’t make any sense. You use logitech g203 which is very basic mouse compre to viper mini for same price. Literally only good gaming mouse logitech has is superlight that’s about it.
I love my G502 and my G915… wouldn’t know what to do without them. I can’t remember, what G series mouse that I had an issue with, but the left click buttons on these a few years back, kept becoming double clickers – with a single click. This mouse, however, has been solid, and so has the over-priced but excellent G915 KB. Had a Razor and the left button started double and triple clicking in no time at all. I do keep my mice very clean, so I don’t know. The Razor was also pretty light in weight. I love being able to set it the way I want it.
I had a normal Logitech G502 for about 4 years until the mouse wheel wore down to the point of no longer registering me clicking it. So i bought the G502 Hero because i was so satisfied with the G502 and i also didn’t want to get a different one which i might not even enjoy using as much as my Logitech.
No wonder why this mouse is clearly the king of all PC mice, it is so good that i will happily buy another one if my current one will start to wear down as well.
i bought 3 and RMA 6 times
will happily buy again
I own the G502 Lightspeed, absolutely love it, had it about 5 months and for the first 3 I used it without the weights, stuck all the weights that came with it and for me it feels a lot better, buttery smooth when you flick in games. Overall I love it
