Judging the best games of all time, especially considering how many incredible games have been released, is no easy task. For every older title that released and served as the very peak of brilliance, there have been newer titles that have competed and at times surpassed them.
Nevertheless, some games have earned their place in history and regardless of the amount of that's passed, they still deserve to be appreciated for what they've achieved (on top of still being great games). So without further ado, here are the top 30 ranked games of all time, starting with number 30…
0:40 Burnout Takedown
1:14 Splinter Cell : Chaos Theory
1:49 Shadow Of The Colossus
2:25 Mass Effect 2
3:01 Batman : Arkham City
3:39 Gran Turismo 3 : A Spec
4:27 The Elder Scrolls 5 : Skyrim
5:04 Portal 2
5:42 Control
6:19 Halo 3
6:56 Silent Hill 2
7:26 Undertale
8:03 Ori and the Will of the Wisps
8:44 Forza Horizon 5
9:29 Horizon Forbidden West
10:09 Hades
10:53 Hollow Knight
11:28 Persona 5 Royal
12:04 The Last Of Us
12:39 Metal Gear Solid 2 : Sons of Liberty
13:18 Resident Evil 2
14:02 Super Mario Odyssey
14:43 Gran Theft Auto 5
15:29 Bloodborne

Gotta love the ones that put time stamps out here for YouTube… 💯💯
why is mario oddeyssey in top 30, literally a lie, also where’s black ops 2 😭, this guys top 30 is crazyyyy
Not a good list. Some of your selections shouldn’t even be selected in top on hundred.
Cheers mate, thanks for taking the time doing this, respect from Ireland to you 🇮🇪🤝🌎
@GetWreckedNoobs What’s the best Zelda game in your opinion?
Bioshock should be on the list. The game was ground breaking for it’s time.. And it holds up extremely well to this day!
Yop. Bioshock is the best FPS game I have ever played and to this day it looks like a modern game
Best FPS of all time in my opinion
@Squid Idk like with modern HD clarity, it just lacks any scary atmosphere and with the higher framerate now, the animations are far too cartoonish and hand animated to be taken seriously. I remember being terrified when it first released. Even the demo scared me. I respect the design and art style, but it doesn’t work as well as it did for me before. Also, even back in the day, I felt like Bioshock as a series was a bit too clunky, but I forgave that for the great atmosphere and graphics. But I’m a bit less forgiving with it now.
@Squid I was playing the remaster of the first game, so maybe the remaster isn’t good. I’m thinking about downloading the old one actually
I agree, Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec should not have been here especially when you had burnout and forza horizons, bioshock would have been a better bet.
Should include Max Payne series. Its one of the best storyline and gameplay out there.
And It is getting a remake baby!!!
Man this video listed so many of my favorite games of all time but the one game I could experience over if I could would be the Witcher3 wild hunt!!
But I love every single game on this list even the ones I haven’t played like Mario odyssey I know I would love it just from growing up with Mario 64!
Great List!
Great Video!
Some of my favorites are on this (God of War, TLoU, Persona 5 Royal, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring) but I feel like there is a recently bias going on here
I prefer a recency bias if the recent games are actually better (which I think for many of the games on this list they are).
Because awesome games from 2010s are better than awesome games from 1990s, they aged badly, they feel outdated. And this is the best list I found, no alltp, super mario 3, tetris, etc.
@Sebastian I mean ocarina should be top 5 because it pioneered the way for all of these open world games lol. Same with super Mario 64
I like the feel of persona 4 golden the best!!
bias on ELDEN RING no doubt
While I don’t disagree with any pick on this list….remember when Zelda ocarina of time was in the top 5 best games of all time for like…15 years?
@Zherwin Alcaparas More like “last decade edition” because huge majority of those games are from Playstation 3 to Playstation 5 era.
that is why they put (2022 edition)….many loyal zelda OOT will be pissed
I own 99% of this list and have 90% of them in my backlog. I have some amazing games to get thru. Thanks for the reminder. Great video🔥🔥
Yes, I have lots of gamesbut still wrapped in plastic…being a responsible adult requires sacrifice
Yeah… It’s a great list… I have to give them credit… I like that they added also some indies in there…
Not a single Final Fantasy game? I was at least expecting to see FF7r. Ghost of Tsushima would definitely make my list also. But I get it, this is the list that you guys wanted to make.
it’s a terrible list
Burnout 3 was the last game I lost many hours to, where each hour had me with a massive grin on my face! Those were the days!
Dungeon Master on the Atari ST is #1 for me but then I’m an old git! Played it for months with my sister and it saved us from utter boredom at home. Even 35 years later it still holds up.
Honourable mentions go to Elite, Descent, Doom, Bioshock, Inside…
Man, I want a new Splinter Cell title. I hope that comes sooner rather than later.
Ubisoft is busy with Splinter Cell remake. We won’t get a new one any time soon.
Using The Last of Us as the thumbnail because you know how many people love it just to place it #12 below Resident Evil 2 Remake is crazy
Overrated af
@Robert Adamson it wouldn’t make my top 200
@Robert Adamson hardly in top 10 perhaps top 20 for me. Again, it’s a personal choice and very, very subjective. We don’t all have the same taste.
I believe that it is indeed Overrated
And absolutely when it comes to survival horror part ….RE2 Remake does much better job than TLOU
Gameplay wise the game brings nothing to the table …literally taking (stealing ) whole segments …examples :
The “we are stuck in a shack and we need to survive from resident evil 4″
The” I am hanged upside down and there are enemies rushing towards me that I need to shoot before they reach me while my side kick drops me down from dead space 2 ”
The whole idea of closed doors that require rare items to unlock also from dead space
Also Without any doubt TLOU has a collection of the worst puzzles I have ever seen in gaming …
Look for a ladder that takes you 20 seconds to find and watch Joel slowly move it
Also look for a dumpster and watch Joel slowly move it
Also Look for a wooden plank and watch Joel slowly swim it towards ellie and then swim to the other side with ellie on top of it ?!?!?
I mean seriously…what were naughty dog smoking when they made those puzzles
Also the game is like 14 hours long and there are like only three types of enemies in the game which gets really boring at the final quarter of the game
Also …why aren’t there bossess in the game ???
You would think a linear third person shooter that is released in 2013 would have some bosses that shake things a bit ..
The story and the writing of this game is top teir and easily one of the best when it comes to this part
Gameplay wise ….the lack of new creative gameplay segments and the lack of diversity in enemies and the fact that the game has no bosses at all .. alongside the terrible terrible puzzles ….these are factors that bring tlou down for sure
But after all these are just opinions
I prefer re2 to tlou because it favors gameplay over story ….because at the end we are PLAYING A GAME ….not watching a movie or reading a novel …
Gameplay always comes first for me
Resident Evil 2 Remake or Original is a much better survival horror game and it’s not even close, in fact Silent Hill 2 should be over The Last Of Us anyone who says The Last Of Us is the best Horror game of all time are more than likely the same people who say Nickelback and Creed are better than Soundgarden and Alice In Chains
Hell yeah!! you listed Gran Turismo3 A-Spec!!
It was such a huge game at launch because no other game had reached that graphical Fidelity yet-
Even people that did not play racing games at all could not help but love it for how spectacular it looked-
Racing aficionados were most pleased as well with the superb handling model as well as all too memorable replay feature with a full length career mode and arcade mode with races of three different difficulty tiers as well as a time trial mode set with specific cars on select tracks by the developers, gran Turismo3 Had it all and is one of the Gran Turismo’s I wish they would remaster… GT4 took it another step and was kind of like how GT2 is to GT1!!
GT2 had 594 cars if I’m not mistaken?
Silent hill 2
was also one of the most underrated and incredible moments at the time of its release, in gaming!!!
I hold it is one of the greatest survival horror video games of all time! I highly recommend playing it, however you have to do so?!
@Brian M i agree SH2 is a really great game…..That FOG ambience still gets me
Sadly there’s more weirdos on here complaining about TLoU being too low and not enough people praising SH2 so my hats off to you my friend
Between Control, Ori and Horizon FW, it got enough of my faves. Solid list!
I am surprised that the mgs 3, zelda ocirana of time, final fantasy 6 7 x, God of War, gears of War 2, and other more great games from the previous consoles.
D O O M
I know I’m going to just list my favorites and argue for their inclusion, but I think they deserve some consideration for a multitude of reasons aside from nostalgia. Of course each of these have flaws, but I feel their whole package outshines them to the point of greatness (or notice).
DOOM (1993) or DOOM (2016): The original is still thrilling to play now, and the reboot administered the shot of adrenaline the FPS genre needed while sticking to its minimalist (and METAL) roots.
Command & Conquer/C&C Red Alert (or Starcraft/Starcraft II): RTS anyone?
The Outer Wilds: Game that best draws one to explore for the joy of exploration; with a brilliantly crafted world that exists (or moves) on its own, despite the player’s presence.
Prey (2017): I love me an immersive sim, and this one really surpassed the others in its class IMO. Critically overlooked, but landed every sim aspect with grace and polish (environment, mechanics, skills/powers, freedom of choice, gameplay approach, etc.).
I’m not much of a fighing game fan, but wouldn’t Street Fighter 2 be on some lists?
I know that these lists are based on opinions. But this one in particular appears to have too much recency bias. And Control, top 30 game of all-time? IGN put it in their top 100 and I was wondering what I missed when I briefly played it that makes it an all-time great.
@The Red Octopus I also have to defend Control… I’m sad not many people have played it. The combat, destructability, storytelling and the puzzles. All top noch… Though there were some shortcommings for me in the game. Different games for different people in the end…
I didn’t even finish control. I was bored playing it. And I agree where are the classics?
@Keet Madu what games do you like?
control is a reaaaaally great game. putting it in top 100 does indeed make sense.
its graphically amazing, gas some of the best physics+destruction system, an original weird story narrative that is just genius and atmospheric when u get it, its extremely atmospheric, has a great soundtrack and the combat is very good …… so top 100 easily
but top 30 I’m not so sure
@King Ghidorah Lots. I just wasn’t into Control. Games I’m on right now. Ghost/Tsushima, AOE4, PUBG, Forza H5
Playing BotW right now and I’m not disappointed seeing it on top. Can’t wait for the sequel next year.
@Luis Callirgos yes i would, been a fan of from games since ds platinum them all except sekiro.
Try Elden ring.
I love how best “all time” games change all the time. So were they ever really the best of “all time” if they get bumped? 😉🤔 Still love the lists. 💪 Games baby! 👍
