Zeon used custom zakus that matched the gundams in performance, Zakus were mass produced the same time the federations mobile suits were, they aren’t antiques in the char vs Amuro movies
I love the Zaku mainly due to the fact they weren’t only for one person unless they were an Ace where they had custom machines but they basically were every day people machines unlike the gundam where it had some special power you had to control or some kid pilot who gets in it and magically becomes a god
@@jacobhester1596 that whole “magical child” deal is why I liked “Iron-blooded orphans” a lot. No magic involved, just a neural interface to the machine that reduces latency and kinda extends the human body. In general that seems like one of the more mature entries to the franchise – the only big negative that I can recall is the classical “I’m not made to be a leader” trope which on the other hand actually sorta makes sense considering that they’re at best teens with puberty hitting some people like a truck, imposter syndrome and PTSD being a thing and all that
@@jacobhester1596 the main gundam storyline has rhidde who pilots a normal mass produced suit. There’s only 3 “special main characters” one of which is char’s inheritor Hathaway Noa who pilots a gundam for the first time in his 20s, ignoring all the gundams the vast majority or pilots aren’t special magical kids and do infact pilot mass produced machines on both sides
Also zakus were not made for the everyday person or were swappable, they were made by zeonic specifically to fight the federation

Seriously before I unlocked it I was getting killed by it in ground rb and I was like “all right.”This thing has to be pretty decent.” Then I unlocked it and was test flying it and just thought how do you even use this thing. It goes like 150 miles an hour at best lol.
